Abstract

This article presents the ten best practices in victim care within the scope of the Brazilian Public Prosecutor's Office. Victims of crime have rights recognized and protected by the legal system, such as the right to compensation for moral and material damages suffered, however, few are aware of how to exercise this right. The Public Prosecutor's Office, as a defender of a fair legal order, must also act in favor of victims. The institution is responsible for promoting the recognition of the rights of victims and safeguarding their dignity and differentiated treatment within the justice system, in order to achieve full criminal guarantees.
