In this article, we consolidate theoretical constructs that aim to expand the reflective frameworks on the processes of deinstitutionalization/autonomy of adolescents and young people egressing from institutional sheltering services due to the age of majority. We compiled primary and secondary sources, using the methods of quanti-qualitative document analysis, and hermeneutic analysis on normative bases of historical nature. We focused on census databases (IBGE/SUAS) to consolidate an overview and on self-perception data of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic context, in order to map the main impacts experienced in the scope of integral health and social determinations. We review the legal and normative frameworks for the regulation of sheltering regulations for children and adolescents, the potentialities and gaps on the offer of the Republics, as tools for young people exiting these services, and processes of preparation for the transition to adulthood. Finally, we present considerations that aim to collaborate with the scenarios of production of quanti-qualitative scientific knowledge and implementation of public policies, aimed at expanding the guarantee of rights of these young people who were under State custody, aiming at the synergy of efforts of the System of Rights Guarantee, Unified System of Social Assistance (SUAS) and Unified Health System (SUS).
