Between Affection and Violence: Juvenile Offending in the Context of Domestic Violence
Keywords:
Adolescent, Domestic violence, Human dignityAbstract
This study discusses the applicability of Brazilian legislation on domestic violence, known as the Maria da Penha Law, to cases of aggression against women committed by adolescents. It also examines the phenomenon of juvenile domestic violence as a violation of the principle of human dignity. The paper briefly analyzes theories that seek to explain this phenomenon and addresses procedural aspects related to the application of legal provisions in judicial practice, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive approach to tackling this type of issue. It advocates for both judicial and therapeutic approaches as means of conflict resolution and underscores the importance of protecting mothers, sisters, and adolescent partners, highlighting the need to restore the maternal bond, given the indissoluble nature of the relationship between mothers and their children.
