The role of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the control and supervision of the actions of the state towards the approach to the homeless population.

This article examines the importance of the Public Prosecutor’s Office as an institution of
control and supervision of approach of the state towards the homeless population. It draws on
experiences of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT)
to respond to human rights violations during law enforcement interventions in the Federal
District and on the consequences of these actions. Therefore, it analyses the homelessness
phenomenon, the principles related to it and the role of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. It also
considers the project “Pés na Rua” - “Feet on the Street”, focusing on the Recommendation n.
3/2021 issued by the MPDFT, the obstacles faced by the officers of the institution and the
advances achieved.
