Abstract

The article involves the analysis of money laundering through cryptocurrencies. The work examines the characteristics that encourage the use of virtual assets to carry out the crime, which represents, at the same time, difficulty in combating it. First, the historical synthesis of the crime is presented, both from a global perspective and from a national perspective. Second, the concept and phases of the criminal offense (concealment, dissimulation and integration) are developed, with techniques for carrying it out being shown. Finally, the practice of crime using cryptocurrencies is evaluated, addressing the legal innovations for regulating the subject, and detailing particular aspects that favor the execution of the crime, including the display of specific mechanisms.
