Socio-Educational Paradigms: An Analysis from a Criminological Perspective
Keywords:
Socio-educational paradigms, Etiological thought, Social reaction, Penal controlAbstract
This study aims to analyze socio-educational paradigms directed at adolescents in conflict with the law, adopting as its analytical framework the criminological perspectives known as the etiological paradigm and the social reaction paradigm. To this end, based on a review of literature and documents, the research identifies the key elements that characterize these two ideological approaches. It then describes the paradigms of the “irregular situation” and the garantist model, with a focus on socio-educational interventions, and subsequently compares them with the aforementioned criminological perspectives. The study concludes that juvenile justice constitutes a subsystem of the criminal control system, whether guided by the paradigm of the irregular situation or by the garantist paradigm, supported respectively by etiological criminological thought and social reaction theory.
